| Compiled by Mary S. Jackson and Edward F. Jackson. Newspapers are probably one of the most valuable and interesting sources for genealogy and are too often overlooked by researchers. Although these newspapers were published in Steuben County, they include notices for the surrounding counties and Pennsylvania. They also include many notices for those people who moved to other towns in New York or to other states. This volume contains nearly 8,000 marriage notices. The records are listed in 16 different sections, one for each newspaper. Within these sections the records are arranged chronologically. Information includes names of bride and groom, date of newspaper, and, if given, place of wedding. 477 pages surname index Paper |
