Newspapers are probably one of the most valuable and interesting sources for genealogy and are too often overlooked by researchers. Although these newspapers were published in Steuben County, they include notices for the surrounding counties and Pennsylvania. They also include many notices for those people who moved to other towns in New York or to other states This volume contains nearly 7,000 death notices. The records are listed in 16 different sections, one for each newspaper. Within these sections the records are arranged chronologically. Information is varied but may include any combination of the following: age or birthdate, names of family members, place of residence, occupation or burial place.
