| The First New York, Battery G, formed in Mexico, New York, early in the war. These young men marched off to save the country and in turn participated in some of the most famous battles of the Civil War. They served with the Army of the Potomac during the Peninsula Campaign, seeing heavy action at Malvern Hill.
